About

Pack Your Happy is a source of empowerment for me. The phrase came to me after a long battle of feeling lonely, weak and everyday life had no point.

I grew up in the small town of Crowley, Texas. I have an outgoing personality and many friends, but felt if I revealed my true feelings those friendships would end. It was then I learned to use my personality to hide my depression.

These feelings of depression increased tremendously in 2016 and by 2017 I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes adding to my feelings of inadequacy. I was looking for answers but afraid to ask for help. For the next 3 years, I was covering up my inner difficulties with various prescriptions such as Xanax and Wellbutrin.

The fight within continued to spiral and I didn’t feel I could come out of it. On April 1, 2020, I sent my family an email that said I was going to drive somewhere and take my life. It was delayed delivery so they would get it days later. I took hand full of pills, drank whiskey and turned on the gas in the house. As I was laying on the floor, passing out, my good puppy dog, Shelby started licking my face to keep me awake.

Hours later I realized I was doing more harm than good. I started calling centers that could help me with my sickness. I checked myself into a facility for 2 weeks and moved to another facility for 30 days. I was in better control of what happened either way and I wasn’t powerless anymore.

I created Pack Your Happy to remind myself and others that living negatively in your head is unhealthy. Not being addicted to the thoughts in our head, but to become addicted to constant and never-ending self-improvement. When we take care of ourselves and are good to ourselves, we have plenty of energy to care for our responsibilities lovingly and effectively.

I wish everyone happiness! “when the struggles on the inside are eliminated, the struggles on the outside are eliminated.”
